The Mountain Movers

Up in the North country of China, women are at the bottom of every conceivable totem pole; they are house-bound, under-educated, utterly without status, and penniless. They are, however, the glue that holds their communities together. The Badi Foundation, based in Beijing, China, gathers women from three villages for a five-day project in which they open their eyes to the world beyond their villages, and for the first time in their lives, become aware of their own great capacities. This film follows the progress of their transformation and the subsequent impact of their triumphant return to their villages.

20 years of hindsight, 9 days in Elmvale, 1 family, together at last.
A young filmmaker investigates his parents' divorce during a very special Christmas holiday: his whole family - even his step-parents - have decided to come to the snow-bound town of Elmvale, Ontario, to spend the holidays together. For the first time in twenty years, his mother and father are sleeping under one roof, eating at the same table and most importantly, telling their story. The whole extended family adopts his film as a kind of family project, sensing that he is investigating his parents' divorce in order to understand his own dilemmas of the heart in the present.
