Kazim Khan-i-Turk is an executioner in the court
of the Persian king. He has been given the loathesome task of interrogating
and executing a 16-year-old boy named Badi. The boys' only crime is
that he has become intoxicated by love for a faith other than Islam.
For Kazim, finding the truth means he must call into question every
value that has governed his life, and risk all that he holds dear
